You have been given fullness in Christ (Col 2:10)
Our Creator made us to need things. We will die without food, water, or oxygen. Likewise, He created us with a deep down craving for a sense of security, acceptance, and significance, and without these, we also die in a very real way. Like all of our needs, God our loving Father wants us to understand that He is the ultimate source of them all.
Unfortunately, we look for love in all the wrong places. The world has duped us into thinking we will find our security, acceptance, and significance in people, money, accomplishments, etc. and yet these things never satisfy. It is because God created us to only be fully satisfied in Him! He wants to be the only God we worship, and knows that we will worship whatever or whoever we are looking to for satisfaction.
What could ever make us more secure, accepted, and significant than being a chosen child of the Almighty Father and King of all kings? We already possess more love than we even need, and God intends for us to experience it so fully that it is overflowing into the lives of others.
It is sad to see so many of God’s people livin’ for what they’ve already been given. They seem to need and crave money, positions, accomplishments, and people just as much as those who don’t know Him. They live like homeless people with a billion dollars in the bank. Trust me my friend, I have experienced most, if not all the things the world thinks will satisfy them, but my real peace, joy, and strength comes from knowing and enjoying the love God has for me. As St. Augustine said many years ago, our hearts find rest when they rest in Him alone.
