“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in victory through Christ.”
(2 Corinthians 2:14 NCV)
Struggles of all kinds are a part of our life. Unfortunately, we often simply give up. One reason is that we become convinced that the temptation, trial, or task is just too difficult for us and that God is asking too much. However, if that is true, then God is a liar. The Scriptures promise: “God is faithful, and He will not let you be tested beyond your strength” (1 Cor 10:13 NRSV). Every test, challenge, temptation, or struggle that is “forced” upon you must first be approved by God before it enters your life, and He will not allow anything that sets you up for automatic embarrassment, defeat, or sin, because such things don’t glorify Him. Instead, He intends for you to win every single battle that life brings because this does glorify Him. In other words, God is constantly setting things up for us to be victorious, and He to be glorified. Such knowledge gives us hope and peace in whatever difficulties we are facing, and gives us plenty of reason to never, never, never give up.
Obviously, though, victory is not automatic. Notice in the verse above that victory comes as we let God lead us. Only by obeying God through our struggle, living in the power of the Spirit in us, and endeavoring to glorify Him in it, are we guaranteed such victory. When God led the Israelites into the Promised Land there were plenty of enemies, but God made sure that none of them were too powerful to overcome His people if they would listen to, trust, and obey Him. Whatever God- allowed battle you are in, keep fighting and don’t give up because God knows you can win!
